Preparation and use
Add 500g/1lb 2oz ginger cake mix to a bowl fitted with a beater. At slow speed add 200ml/7fl oz water and 140ml/4 fl oz of vegetable oil 75g/2½ oz golden syrup and mix for 1 minute. Scrap down and mix for 2 minutes on medium speed then reduce speed to slow and continue for 1 minute. Pour the mixture into a small loaf tin or 6” cake tin. Bake at 180ºC, 360ºF, Gas 4, for approx 40 – 50 minutes.
